Paint.NET เป็นโปรแกรมแต่งรูปฟรีที่ออกแบบมาเพื่อใช้งานแทน Paint โปรแกรมเริ่มแรกเลยได้ถูกพัฒนาเพื่อให้สามารถใช้ทำงานแทนโปรแกรม Paint ที่ติดมากับวินโดว์ โดยที่จะมีฟังก์ชั่นความสามารถที่มากกว่า แต่ผู้พัฒนาก็ได้มีการเพิ่มฟังก์ชั่นต่างๆ เข้ามาอย่างมากมาย ทำให้โปรแกรมนี้ได้กลายเป็นโปรแกรมแต่งรูปฟรีที่มีฟังก์ชั่นการทำงานคล้ายกับโปรแกรมอย่าง Photoshop หรือ The Gimp เลยทีเดียว โปรแกรมรองรับการใช้งาน Layer การใช้งานระบบ Selection การใส่ฟิลเตอร์ พร้อมเครื่องมือในการจัดการรูปภาพอีกหลากหลายรูปแบบ โปรแกรมมีขนาดเล็กทำให้ไม่ต้องการทรัพยากรมาก โปรแกรมนี้จึงเหมาะกับการใช้งานบนคอมพิวเตอร์เครื่องเก่าหรือเน็ตบุ๊คที่มีทรัพยากรเครื่องจำกัด แต่ถ้าหากใครอยากได้โปรแกรมแต่งรูปเล็กๆ ใช้งานง่ายๆ ก็สามารถโหลดไปใช้ได้เช่นกัน

Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for computers that run Windows. It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the Microsoft Paint software that comes with Windows it has grown into a powerful yet simple image and photo editor tool. Reviewed by downloaddd. It has been compared to other digital photo editing software packages such as Adobe Photoshop Corel Paint Shop Pro Microsoft Photo Editor and The GIMP.
